Point Reyes National Seashore, entering SF
After, a 1.5 hr drive we made it Point Reyes Visitor center. Kingston got his NP booked stamped and we read about the grasslands, local birds and sealife (great science for the day!) We checked with the ranger and the noted the hike to the lighthouse would be too foggy, even though the sun was outing seemed like a beautiful California day, the fog down there hadn't had a chance to burn off. So we opted for the Lamber trail, a 20 min drive from the visitor center, walked 1/2 mile to the beach and K loved jumping in the waves, bummed we didn't have a boogie board for him, as tons were out surfing etc.
We got back on the road excited to finally be coming into SF today. We ended passing through Muir Woods and the Stinson bookstore I had wanted to stop at, but oh well we'll be back through this area in the spring upon our return. We took the exit to view the Golden Gate Bridge and to see the city, of course a little foggy, but we got some good pics and it was refreshing to get back into civilization again! We hadn't had lunch and remembered one of our favorite restaurants, the Buena Vista would be an excellent place to stop (famous for their Irish coffee). My cousin Mary, introduced us to this restaurant quite a few years back. James dropped K & I off and went to look for parking, which it was a Friday late afternoon and traffic was starting to get bad, not to mention trying to park a 25ft big rig in DT SF might be difficult!
